Thx for the "how do"...is it possible to set another line with shortcuts? I tried set a fifth shortcut (edit another div id=five ....) but it won't show. It shows only the 4 icons.

For a second shortcut widget you must rename the widget in the config.xml file. So it would be installed twice as "shortcut1" and "shortcut2" for example.

There are 4 shortcuts predefined (LCG professional mail, LCG Jukebox, Internet, media browser).

I won't win a beauty contest with it but it works.

You can modify the shortcuts to your needs as follows:

-rename the file i8910shortcut.wgt in i8910shortcut.zip and extract it
-store the needed icons in the folder /images (65x65 or 80x80 pixel)
-adjust application UID and filenames in the file index.html

Ex: <div id="eins"> <img class="first" src="images/mail.png" width="63" height="63" onclick="launchApp('0xa0000b6a'"> <p > Profi mail <br /> </ div>

-If no icon is available, you can use the file "Green_01.png".

-zip everything and rename the file to i8910shortcut.wgt

-copy to phone and execute

-------------------------------------------------- -----

To get the application UIDs, I have included a widget from Nokia.
Simply install and run.

Download here:

I hope that everything works. Maybe someone will find it useful.

Hi thank you for your guide, and your attachement. I've managed to make wo widgets, inclueding 8 appz, I can now start from main screen while widgets on.
My question is, could you post how to mod your files to be able to do a widget which is only for one app. Also how to mod the size and other settings to be able to create a widget only for one app.

Thanks

Matrix, the code to do what you are asking is in his widget.
You simply need to modify it a little bit...I think asking svart to do this would be making him to out of his way, as he has already provided us the tools to accomplish this.

Take a look at the AllAboutSymbian example for creating a website link widget, then take a look at how svart can use his widget to launch Applications --
Combine the two. Create a one icon widget and use the launchapp function instead of opening a browser link.

I have a question though..how can we extract an icon from an already installed application? Or is there a way to get it from the .sis(x) file isntead? Perhaps a SIS unpacker?

Basically, you need 3 files:
config.xml:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<widget id="WidgetNo1" version="1.0.1" height="65" width="65" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/ns/widgets">
 <title>Application1</title>
 <description>
  Application1
 </description>
 <icon src="icon.png"/>
 <content src="index.html"/>
 <access network="true" />
</widget>
The widget id has to be unique for every widget you create. description and title is what you see in the widget list on your phone.

icon.png:

this is the icon file. it can be used for the scrolling list and the homescreen itself.

index.html:

This one has to contain the javascript for the application launch.
look at the attached example.
to launch the aplication that you want, you need to modify the app UID (launchApp('0x10008d39')) in this line:
Code:
<div id="Browser" onclick="launchApp('0x10008d39');" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px" >
<img height="63" width="63" src="icon.png" /></div>
I think that's all.

@surge:

There's a software called SISXplorer that might help to extract the icons. have not tried it, though.
would be nice to hear if you find out how to get the icons.

Woohoo!

Use SIS Explorer to extract the SVG (scalable vector grafix) icon file, then convert it to PNG.

Link to SISExplorer: http://www.symbian-toys.com/sisxplorer.aspx
Link to online SVG-&gt;PNG converter: http://www.fileformat.info/convert/image/svg2raster.htm

http://img.uptodown.com/en/icons/win...g3.34-icon.jpg &lt;- another fring icon

You can resize it via the widget code or in photoshop.
Not sure if we really have to convert it, I am not up to spec on the widget standard, but from what AAS says it has to be a PNG file for the widget icon...I could be wrong though like I said.

It would be great to pull the icons directly from the application -- but I do not have the energy to figure that one out right now

Awesome! Thanks svart.

I haven&#039;t bothered to look yet, but where are the built in widgets located?
Can we view their source?
I&#039;d like to steal -- erm, "borrow" me some of those codes

I am mostly a php and database developer -- I leave the UI stuff to my buddys!
CSS and javascript are nice but I am a newb when it comes to how to utilize them to make stuff look cool. I get the basic tags and syntax though and can easily modify code to suit my needs..
