Default Will and updated or custom firmware satisfy?

I've not long had the i8910 and to be honest am somewhat dissapointed.

I didn't plan on a phone upgrade just yet, but cracking the screen on my N95 accelerated it.

Now the N95 is a pretty old model, yet the i8910 has disapointed me on some area's head to head, which is quite embarrasing for Samsung given the on paper specs.

The i8910 is suppose to be a media king, yet it drops the ball is some simple areas.

The Gallery (images & videos) and Media Browser are quite poor. Not having it long the library of images/videos is tiny vs what the 2 year old N95 had, yet simply opening the gallery brings about a painful wait I'm certainly not use to (13seconds!!!!). Embarrasing almost when your trying to show people pic's.
Then just opening/scrolling through pics is still painfully slow (3 seconds)

Gallery also doesn't seem to understand portrait taken photos, ie rotation is all wrong.

The Media Browser is not much better, with lovely "loading..." screen testing ones patience. (10 seconds)

Will an official firmware fix this? Or a cooked one?
I personally feel this is unusable, how can an N95 beat such a 'modern' phone in the most basic of functions?

N95 isn't exactly known for its battery life, yet the i8910 is no better, possibly worse in life.

There are many other areas I could go on about, but bascially if these basic areas remain pathetic, I'll be pushing for a refund from the carrier and get something else.

An issue being in Australia is there is no updates. I would have to run and OS firmware or a custom one.
As I understand running a custom one may void the warranty, I can't see how an offical Samsung one can though.

Current firmware is I8910DXIH1
This has custom carrier crap in it (Optus) but looking up the codes isn't even Australian anyway, go figure.

After playing with a HTC HD2 today, I really do hope a newer firmware than this provides HUGE improvements in many areas, else the i8910 feels like a 2year old model in comparison.
