This is with new firmware, any work around for this?

I found 24 too high. I still got hissing. 18 seems to be the sweet spot-at least for me. Still picks up quieter sounds.

I agree, 18 or even 12 seems best. I found 6 or less is too low and doesn't pick up all sounds around you.

Try 12..or even 6 depending on how loud it's going to be. I have mine set at 12 and sounds good enough for me.
