Gabriel, I think what you described is not normal and usual behavior i8910 should give you. Inserting the battery shouldn't result in phone switching on. I think you should contact Samsung Service center and see what they have to say and by al means insist on valid answers and demand a speedy repair or battery substitution.

That's bad battery contacts. Gently scrape any black deposits from the battery connectors and clean both battery and phone connectors with a little alcohol and a cloth

Gabriel, i also have the same switch off, on battery issue when i switch off i can't switch back on unless i take the battery out and place back in upon which the phone will switch on automatically!!.

This seems to be linked to the phone only charging when the usb cable is connected as i have posted in another thread but was lead here looking for an answer!!!. It's funny though as sometimes mine will connect but then will automatically disconnect its self?? this at first led me to belive my usb cable was faulty but now i'm not so sure?. Has anyone else had this problem?, or are there any solutions apart from sending to samsung as my phone has been flashed??

I have tried the widget and many other solutions but I still have the problem. I still can't update my firmware or get it connected to the computer in anyway.
