Worried about flashing my phone

hey guys/girls

to be frank, i am not a computer person or a tech person and basically i have no clue in technology but i do have a samsung I8910...(gift lol)

recently i found out about the updates on the phone that apparently made it better but after reading about it, after flashing my phone i would void the warranty.

another confession. i am not a careful person (eg. i accidentally washing machine my samsung jet) so basically i need the warranty. i found out from my friends that after jailbreaking the Iphone, it can be taken off when needed. i was just wandering if it would be the same with samsungs.

and is there a way that i can update my phone without losing that warranty?????

im just really concerned because I8910 is a really nice phone and i dont want to wreck it..can someone plz help me.................

I was in a similair position to you and not very computer literate..am assuming your on orange branded f/w? If your able to use an XP windows computer (you can use vista or 7 I believe but unsure how) and delve into the tutorials on this forum on how to flash your phone, then it should make some sense? you can re-flash back to the original f/w should you need it for warranty purposes! there are plenty of links to original and custom f/w available on here, I just printed off the tutorials and worked my way through after that....a chap called valldegre pointed me in the right direction! search my post called "sunday afternoon mechanic" he was very helpful and included links that really helped.....if I can do it, then anyone can! This site was the best thing I could have found for the 8910. Maynot have been much help but choose your f/w you want and your backup and give it a shot! good luck!
