Does anyone know the best way to view notes that are collected in contacts? I use the notes field a lot in Outlook to record details of my clients, but viewing them in the i8910 is a real pain because the phone only displays the first 30 characters or so and the only way to view the entire note is to edit it, and even then it does not show that much and scrolling around is a not easy. In the iPhone if you touch the notes field it brings up an expanded window to show the entire notes field in smaller font, and it is not an edit mode.
Any advise or a link to a similar discussion would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Russell in Birmingham, Alabama |

Yep, I use the notes field a lot so I switched to Dream Connect for my contacts instead of the built in contact manager.
It solves the Notes problem and has some other nice features as well. DreamConnect for S60 | dreamconnect-for-s60 | products |

I have no idea. Why dont you try it?
Free trial on the website. However, from the website: DreamConnect replaces the standard Contacts, uses your existing database and synchorises the way the standard Contacts does so I dont see a problem especially. AFAIK its the database that is syncing, not the program itself. |

Ok, I will try it and report back to the forum. I use Roadsync as well to sync my contacts.
Question, did you get it to sync your categories as well with Outlook? Have you tried? -Russell |

It doesnt sync categories with outlook unfortunately. But it does have its own category management system.
The search is also pretty good so I find myself rarely using the categories on the phone now (but I would like to!). I have never been able to find any software / hardware combination that does that, either with S60, or UIQ3 previously. I have in the past (with my SE phones) gone through and manually categorised all my contacts. This was a pain, but once it was done it wasnt much of a big deal to keep it up to date as the additional contacts are added (since they are naturally 'unfiled' in the first instance). Also, to help facilitate this, I always used to have my outlook categories written into the notes field. Since outlook 2007 came along and changed the way categories are implemented this hasnt worked so well however I did have some success using xtnd connect software to perform the sync, and with custom options it would write the category to the notes field for me. All in all it would be much easier if the hardware would just natively support it but Im not aware of any that does (perhaps windows mobile I guess?). Regardless Dream Connect has been an improvement for me, and its much much faster at searching. Since this is the first release I look forward to an update of the software in due course. |

JMH posted a good thread on Dream Spring forum addressing these issues, which I agree with. I also posted a response. You must register to see the thread, and your registration to Dream Spring main site does not carry over to support--you must register seperately--go figure.
