Default S60 apps install but won't run

I'm running HX 1.7 frimware, which makes the phone think it's a N97 so why when i install s60 apps for N97 do they install but not open. the screen goes blank for a second like it's doing something then it just goes back to the apps again.

I thought the whole point of this firmware being made to imitate an N97 was so I could run these apps?

It doesn't make the phone think it's an N97 it just makes websites think it's so. Some apps rely on giving specific code to say the camera or the compass etc. which will be different in an i8910. Nearly all apps should run correctly though. Which ones are you having trouble with?

ok, well basically everything does the same thing. Recently tried the Facebook app for n97, accuweather, weather bug, and some flight time checking program. None run.

I have had this phone for about 5 months and find it nearly impossible to find apps or widgets. Samsung app stores is pants, i found some s60 app store which had about 30 apps of which 2 I downloaded won't run. Also tried ovi store, and they don't work either. Infact not mch works with this phone, it won't even play digital copy blurays because it says the licence is expired or something. Stupid. Thankfully I have an Itouch which does work. Even the connect media sharing thing won't play films or music from my pc as it says there is no media player.

So far all I have managed to get working is Google maps, roadsync, and joikuspot, thankfully because then at least i can use my ipod for everything online this phone wont do!

try 5800 apps not all the apps are compatible but most of them are and u might try to search I8910 apps as well there are few here and there and it's a good phone Install other web browser like Sky fire and u can surf the internet much more better than ur Ipod as it fully support flash and java and opens the pages in a desktop version and renders pages in a good way just search and U'll luv it

I'll try skyfire. I have searched i8910 apps in google but with limited success.

I'm writing this on my iPod using joikuspot on my phone! Simply prefer most everything about it!

OK, tried Skyfire. it's ok, nothing great. But it is painfully slow..

Basically all i want is, a decent Diary/planner, a weather app, a budgeting/finance control app, and a working skype/messenger app would be good seing as Nimbuzz is useless.

I think it's fair to want only 4 apps? Though it does seem that that is asking too much..

oh yeah, maybe a media app that plays my Bluray Digital Copy's!
