Exclamation HTC Flip Clock Widget / Titanium Skin

Dear Folks,

Recently switched back to symbian in the form of HD from being a windows mobile user.

Three things I miss most, and they are excellent, worth experiencing to see how it feels:

1. The flip clock black and white in htc touchflo phones. Its large digital clock and looks hot.

2. Miss the titanium skin in windows mobile 6.5

3. Miss the amazing, weather wallpaper effect on the mobile. This changes homescreen wallpaper according to weather. Sun shines in animation if Sunny, Rain drops aon the screen in animation if rain. Actual screen flashing if Thunderstorm, Amazing moon light in night and cloudy weather.

Now to the point. Any developers working on somethign like this? Any themes/applications on symbian?

A reply from your side may create an interest in some developers for this.

Yeah I agree, HTC's senseui is beautiful..
By the way, have you seen the LEO yet (hd2)?

The new version of senseUI has an animated home screen that changes based on the weather -- for example, if it's raining, you'll see animated raindrops, snowing, animated snowflakes. It's god damn beautiful and innovative. Oh nevermind, you mentioned that -- damn I am so quick to reply without reading!

Anyways -- you'll find that most Symbian users don't care about stuff like this, for whatever reason, so it may be hard to find people willing to port stuff that only concentrates on asthetics.

Aesthetics aside, I've found it hard to get functional apps that work half as well as WM anyway. I don't think developers are particularly interested in spending time on S60V5 when the big money is in Android or iPhone.
Yeahp, and that's the way I See it also...I think the best UI combines both beautiful graphics \ asthetics and functionality...but Symbian is so minimalist when it comes to stuff like that...I bet if you took a poll most people would say the 3d task manager that was added is useless, when I think that is probably one of the best features of this phone.

But yeah you're right about the dev thing...Most dev's don't want to spend time writing apps for Symbian^1 when the entire symbian platform has basically switch to Symbian^2 will be completely different.

Also, in retrospect -- check this out...HTC provides all that beautiful weather stuff free of charge right, but if you want handy shell and handy weather, which basically do the same exact thing on Symbian, except it isn't nearly as functional or graphically advanced, they charge money..what is it, around $40 USD?

Also to the OP, what is the titanium skin?

Wow! Never seen that before...beautiful!!

There are some themes for the i8910 but be careful, some of them seem to mess up the phone completely, and they are nothing like windows mobile themes....they are very minimalist.

I have asked SPB if they would consider mobile shell for symbian and they said they would but...that's the last I've heard of it, and they said they can't discuss unreleased products...so who knows, they could be working on it? But I doubt it.

After watching a YouTube video of the HTC Touch HD just now, I would also so love one of those flip clocks on the homescreen of my Omnia HD.

Hyper/Sev7en?

I've seen it, actually i flashed the Manila 2.5 to my wife's Touch Diamond, worked like a charm the background animations are very beautiful. But about Surge's topic, wouldnt it be possible to create a Touch Diamond Clock Widget for Omnia HD?

There is a flip/slide clock demo with the latest Qt 4.6 SDK. So through this is possible. However, it should be written from scratch. However Touch FLO 3D 2.0 is overrated. The newer version 2.6 (that comes with the HD2) is a bit better in combining more things on one screen (the weather with the flip clock for an example), and the weather widget now takes into account and triangulates dynamically your current location and changing itself the places you're currently.
Last time i used WinMo device, found the Microsoft's own "titanium" to be far more quicker and user-navigation friendly. No to mention faster. Overall it's a good thing that HTC are switching to ARM/Tegra/Tegra 2 hardware solutions from 2010, i can't shake the feeling that Qualcom are seriously behind other competitors. Even the Snapdragon with 1 Ghz is kinda unimpressive as a raw performance.

Oh and .. SenseUI is only for the Droid phones.. for now at least.

I seriously doubt the samsung touchwiz standard allows for that kind of animation\graphics with widgets.

The best we could do would be a clock that does not animate but looks similar....as for the background \ weather thing on symbian, I seriously, seriously doubt that. The OS is not anywhere near advanced graphically as windows mobile.
