Samsung Omnia HD (I8910) Firmwares - Easy Download

Hey guys,

Could anyone confirm if the Italian II1 listed here is safe to flash? I've heard at least 2 people say they've lost their bootloader by flashing (not through PC Studio). What do I need to do to maintain my bootloader?

Is there any consensus on what firmware is the best, or is it a case of your needs, as Im about to do my first flash

There are specific roms with 3d taskman, some dont have it. If you care for it, you have to carefully select...

Use IF4 and update to IG2 through Phone Studio....
Can be, that it updates to II1... Try out...

Best is to flash to IG2 and then use PC Studio to upgrade. The II1 on this board is missing the booloader which causes problems.

I was once on this peg but took the plunge and no worries so far.

I had the Malaysian Generic_Malaysia_DXIG2.rar and first tried the new Hong Kong Generic_Kong_Kong_ZXII1.rar which apparently was named wrongly in the archive though is works.

But since I didn't mind seeding an extra RAM/Battery life, I tried the Italian Generic_Italy_XXII1.rar and now I've got the 3D task-manager.

While I can't tell if I noticed much difference between the HK's FW and the Italian FW, for me either seem pretty upgraded/updated.

The Italian FW reads 7thSept2009 which aint bad.

Issues with Italian FW:
1)Yes, I guess my battery drains fast* (I did switch off the funny things such as VideoSharing, etc; but left autodisplay power on )
2)Wifi still disconnects after any phone lock.
3) I guess the GPS took a little more than the usual 2 mins [I'll still give this a shot outdoor 2morrow]
4)I seem not to be much lucky with images taken with any FW I've taken so far, most end up blurred May be I need to get a tripod
5) No FACEBOOK On-Screen Widget [What there is just a web-redirector]
6) My Wifi Connection still shows 2 networks of the same Access Point, once connected.
7) MAIN MENU STAYS IN PORTRAIT MODE even if you are in LANDSCAPE!!! FREAKING Old school and weired.

Cool stuff about Italian FW
*Widgets
- Brilliant Wifi Widget--- for a Nokian convertee, this is priceless.
- AccuWeather is there finally
- Better QWERTY (spacing) & alphnumeric pads for 'Dialer'.
- Improved browsing (Much better than what I experienced using the Malaysian FW for 1week) & a handy Zoom is embedded, though no pinching provided yet
- Faster Gallery previewing; faster r. tone assignment, doesn't wait for "loading..." like before.
- Quick Contact search now use both first and last names.
- Compass Calibration seems to last more through several launches [u don't need to always recalibrate each time]
- I guess the video is better. Though I hardly use this for video recording. to me, it's a playback device than a recorder


When I poked the Samsung brick into the PC Studio 7 for an upgrade/update, is says "No Update Required. Your software is currently up-to-date. Thank you" Though I upgrade my FW using the Symbian ROM Tool.

Hope this info would help you on which FW to select.
