To what value did you change the compression quality? Try to change to 50 or even below to be exactly sure that it doesn't work. That way the picture quality will degrade very much, so you'll see the results for sure. If you see nothing has been changed, then I really don't know the reason for it. Maybe it's firmware related? I'm on original Italian II1 firmare. Also look into your C:\Private\10202be9\persists folder, if you have 10282EDC.cre, then rename it to something else. I don't have it so I couldn't rename anything, but it's the "correct" procedure with all TXT hacks in this folder. If you don't rename it, then the settings will be read from .cre and not .txt files.

Hope it helps a bit. Post your results here...
I'm also running on original I8910XXII1, I installed HelloOX2 2.03 with RomPatcher+ 2.2.
It still doesn't work. In my previous post I forgot to mention, that I'm also working with file 101F8557.txt (I wanted to move cache from C: to E: ), so I exactly know, if this "hack" is working or not. And after procedure (I deleted both *.cre files from persist dir) web browser's cache is still going to C: and not to E:. Thanks for your support, Burs, do you have any other idea?

I'm really sorry it doesn't work for you, but I can't help you anymore since this surpasses my knowledge in this field. All of my 4 hack works, and they are all txt-based, and only difference is that I don't have RomPatcher installed. Maybe that's the reason it why it works on my phone, but it could also be a million of other things. I'm really stumped by this behavior. Anyway, if you work this out, post here as I'm eager to see the reason. And other members could find it usefull too.

I personaly don't know, but if you search a little bit, you'll find a few sticky posts that explain everything in detail. I know there's info how to pack and unpack roms, but if you're specificaly insterested in packing everything into one EXE file, that's probably done by making a RAR/ZIP SFX file. It's self-extracting arhive which in addition to rom and flashtool includes an extractor which automaticaly extract the arhive (without WinZip or WinRar installed), and when extraction is done, flashtool is started. I didn't download that file, but I guess this is what you ask. Hope it helps a bit...

Yes, I have already read that sticky posts, but I wanna find out how to modify Hyperx roms. He uses somewhat "secret" method to pack everything in one executable file, cause even that flashing tool looks different than original one. So the trick with 'selfexecutable archive' doesn't fits here.

Please post a link here, as I don't know which one you mean. Then I'll take a look into it. And then we'll hack the hacker

Well, lets say I need to add custom QWERTY keyboard layout to this "hacked symbian" rom: http://fanste.nl/hyp3rx/Chinese_II2_HX1.61.rar
I don't know if it is possible at all, to add custom keyboard pattern, but anyway I need to unpack that rom first. So the question is: how?

Yes, you're right. The link you provided doesn't have anything to do with SFX archives. But to my knowledge, there's plenty of tools on the internet which can achieve what hyperx did. As an end result you get custom packed EXE file with all the files you included before building your exe. I'm afraid you'll have to google it a bit after all Anyway, hyperx is a modder/hacker, so what did you expect from him? He won't just give away his hard earned results He packed everything together, probably because of stealing "his" code hehe...

Question settings menu crash

"Other menu functions changed from IG2 onwards, so if your language ROM was IF or older, you will have some instability in the menu system (especially with the settings menus). Hyperx and sev7en have solved this (I believe), so I'm hoping they'll shed some light on this and I'll update this first post to reflect it."

Hi. Please help me. I'm starting to make a hungarian and polish version of XXJB1 but I have the same problem. Everything is fine but the settings menu will crash in the two new added languages. The Device Manager and BrowserNg will crash too. Anyone solved this problem or have an idea?
