Hi everyone!! Fisrt of all thanks for this tutorial, it's really useful for those like me starting cooking thier own roms. I have just one question. How can I insert my own applications in my custom rom? I mean, if I'd like to insert for exemple an application like a taskman or a weather forecaster or a sms utility so that theese can be used since the first boot, how can I do this? What files and where do I have to place them? Sorry if I made confusion, I hope you'll understand anyway.

Hi,

today I try to put some of the new language in sev7en R7 rom, but something went wrong, because my phone did't turn on. So I was a little bit scary because I almost brick my phone.

For this reason I would ask, what was wrong. I put T9 and keyboard as you djsaad1 wrote.
When I repack all rof file. They create me different code and csc xml file, so I replace missing line with sven7en xml file:

ORIGINAL (RofsRomUtility create):

CODE file:

Code:

djsaad1, thanx for all the useful information you've provided...

to change the Image and Video roots matter, I've made a copy of the File " 101FFCD2.txt " which was in " Z:\Private\10202BE9\ " into " F: " and made the changes but it wont return it back to the same first folder as the original file is read only and can't be replaced !!!
(by the way I've copied the file with ActiveFile/X-Plore and then changed it with office suit)

so how can I change the file and put it again in the Z:\Private\10202BE9\ ?

Hello!

No, you dont need to hack your phone!
Just install the driver you can find here How to flash and debrand your Samsung i8910 HD - Samsung i8910 Omnia HD Debrand Tutorial. | Samsung i8910 HD Users - 100% i8910 Omnia HD

and download the fw package.

And nearly all custom roms are faster then the officals...!

Thanks goes to Sev7en for finding this first!

The file is in the rofs1.img under private\10202BE9\10282EDC.txt.

When you open the file you will see the default compression quality for the different image settings. You can change the quality to what you think is best. Sev7en's tests resulted that these settings were best for him.
* CompressionQuality=85 ---> CompressionQuality=95
* CompressionQuality=75 ---> CompressionQuality=85
* CompressionQuality=50 ---> CompressionQuality=70
When changing CompressionQuality setting, do I also have to edit the EstimatedSize setting? I ask because it's hard to calculate the final value for it. Difference between EstimatedSize values when comparing CompressionQuality of 75% to 50 is 22%, and 85% to 75 is 72%. How much would I have to increase EstimatedSize values if I want to raise CompressionQuality from 85% to 95% for example? Tnx...

EDIT: from what I read on the internet, the EstimatedSize value is just a rough number which tells the phone how much space the taken picture would occupy on the drive it is saved to. So if the user is low on space on the drive he's saving to, the phone can warn the user even before the pictures is taken. Is this a good or bad feature, I don't know, but all I know I have plenty of free space so I will not change that value (although my logic suggests otherwise). Anyway if someone can give me correct formula to calculate the value, I'll change it.

One more thing, is it normal that no profile is defined for 8Mpix pictures? All I see is up to 6Mpix? If I change all profiles, will that somehow apply to 8Mpix pictures too?
