Think I located where the sound settings for video recording are located, but I won't be able to test my theory until later this week.
When I replaced the rofs2 image file in IG2, AAC was again replaced by AMR leading me to believe the changes were made there. Now I noticed all of the localised GS*.r* files in Z:\Resource. I've only gone in and used Notepad to look at the contents of the GSCamcorderPluginRsc.r01 in the old firmware and in the new firmware and several mentions of AMR are replaced by AAC. This may merely be something textual to reflect a change elsewhere or it may be where the change itself resides. Over the next week I'll be testing to see if these files in particular are the key. If so, I should be able to change the localisation if IG2 and retain the sound fix. |

Using a sledge hammer where watchmakers' tools are probably preferable, I've come up with a way to relocalise IG2 and retain the AAC sound fix.
I basically unroffed the rofs2 image file in the CSC of my most recently available downloadable ROM (Nordic IE4 in my case), then replace all of the English resource files etc. with those of the IG2 rofs2 image (using Vista search for *01* and copy/paste everything into the appropriate place in the new rofs2 you're building) then rebuild the rofs2, naming it the same as the Italian one. Replace the old rofs2 image in the CSC rar and install using the flashing tool (1.50). Then to get the sound fix to work, you need to set the phone language to English, but the input language can be your local language. I've posted my modded CSC file for the Nordic languages here: Skandinavian firmware? I'm eagerly awaiting the new firmware and hope we'll have a downloadable rar soon to see if we can still do this (expect not, though since the 3D task switcher will be harder to keep working). |

decompile the swf file and view the fla in flash, you will find the main widgets in there, including the google one. But I beleive there are more resource files that the widgets use in the resource folders.
With rompatcher you will be able to map some of the files from z to c but you won't have complete access to z:. You can edit any file with z though through the patches. Last edited by djsaad1; 08-20-2009 at 02:42 AM. |

On the i900\i8000 thought I am almost certain they are in .wgt form. Oh well.. |

I want to try if it is possible to install some software, i. e. PyS60, by putting the files form the extracted .sis file into the firmware. |

I spoke too soon. My solution gets AAC working, but it's still broken (records in high-speed and all of the sound plays back within a few seconds of a 5 min recording). Back to the drawing board.

Back in the game. Successfully localised IG2 to Swedish, but will test more before celebrating this time.
Interestingly, besides the files marked t9 and pti in the rofs2 image, I also had to copy the file in private\10009d8f\ecom-2-0.spi to get the t9 to work. For my solution, I've copied all of the Swedish resource and help files as well. Works a charm AND I have the sound fix working. The sound fix settings appear to be located in a combination of the Resource\Gscamcorderpluginrsc.rXX localisation files as well as in private\10202be9\10282edc.txt. For those looking to follow my previous method above, make sure you keep these files from the original IG2 for the AAC sound to work. I haven't tested this, but I'm pretty sure. Developers: Have a look at the latter file. We may be able to adjust our own camcorder/camera settings there in more detail. |
