Great Guide! Is there a way to copy the UK widgets (event widget) this way to another firmware? Or simply extract it and be able to install it on another phone?

I have not tried it, but from snooping around all the widgets that come with each firmware are in the gadgets.swf file on z:\

You should be able to replace the gadgets.swf file with one from another firmware to get different widgets.

Djsaad1, how do we know the size of the image? Or are they all 0x40000000 as in your example obey file?

EDIT: And I think you should make a thread on Symbian Freak requesting an edited Installserver, please

no matter how many files I changed I always used that file size and it worked so I just ignored it.

I will make a thread on symbian freak for an installserver. I asked before in a different thread but I guess no one paid attention to it.

I just got my i8910 and it has the latest French firmware (I8910XXIF9). I'm gonna flash it with the Italian rom so I can have the latest updates and everything.
Is it possible to extract widgets from the firmware files? Because there are a few French widgets that I would like to keep.

Nice job my friend but there's another one to handle: it's the I8910XXIG2_XXX.rom image file.
I can get the content by using Zripper but when done I haven't a tool for repacking it: the only way to have some change is to apply the mods via winhex (or other hex editor).
Did you have a solution for this?

Cheers,

I'm very interested in this. Which language files have you identified? I'd be willing to try testing this as well.

I'm also looking for where the qwerty layout and interface files are (my language has an additional column of keys in qwerty), but would be happy just to get the XT9 working with a different language on the phonepad.
