I dont think you were reading feves post carefully, he said fring was the only free option you can use atm. But the problem still remains with fring, its suboptimal in terms of performance, and when you pay 500Euros for a fone you dont want to deal with unecessary delays in VOIP if you dont have to. It seems that nimbuzz would be the best solution if samsung would cough up some info for them to do the development. I think I'm just reiterating wat's below, but having used fring I consider the performance to be lackluster relative to using skype on a PC with WLAN connection.

Symbian 3rd Edition (feature pack 1 and 2): Nokia N78, N79, N81, N81 8GB, N82, N85, N95, N95 8GB, N96, 5320, 6210 Navigator, 6220, E51, E63, E66, E71, E72 and E90. Symbian 5th Edition: Nokia N97, N97 mini, 5530, 5800 and X6. Skype for Symbian is also compatible with the following Symbian 3rd Edition handsets; however, user experience may not be optimal: Nokia N76, 5700, 6110 Navigator, 6120, 6290. It may be that Skype will work on Satio and Vivaz in the future if SE does what lazy Samsung will never do: provide VAS API libs for i8910. Being the only s60v5 (Symbian^1) phone in Samsung line - it will never get such thing for these reasons: 1. Samsung devs know how to code but they're non existent, ie Samsung pulled them off and redirected them to BADA project (most of them). 2. Samsung devs looked into s60V3 SDK and told i8910 VAS API for i8910 has to be written from the scratch (there is not even a rumor on ETA for the start of such project and development) 3. Samsung has so much to lose with mobile operator deals if they're to provide features such VoIP/SIP - Vodafone contracts would be canceled for example (Voda H1 is not selling, but Vodafone still gives it out to customers real cheap if you have 'Fidelity bonus', even I saw it's crap and none is satisfied with it). Those are the same reasons that plays the crucial role in Skype, Nimbuzz development of 100% compatible versions with i8910. Fring is using their own proxy services to redirect you to Skype services and that is why it looks like it's working. Fring and Nimbuzz s60v5 packages has the same structure, yet installing Nimbuzz for N97 gives you error re VoIP driver and Fring one is not, cause the handle is being silenced in the installation process and nothing more. If you ever installed Fring, then you could see VoIP service driver installed ,but is it having any operational function? I do hope I'm very wrong and Samsung actually provide the code for Skype, Nimbuzz and other 3rd party VoIP providers. That would be the day I'd like to see.
